The Town of North Attleborough is aware of a letter sent to residents and business owners the other day regarding the Department of Public Work's new 5-Year Lead Service Inventory and Replacement Program. The letter was mandated as part of the Department of Environmental Protection's new program and was initially scheduled to be shared with residents and business owners today; however, the mailing company sent it out prematurely. The DPW apologizes for any confusion this premature mailing has caused.
Please note that the water from North Attleborough's Well Systems DOES NOT contain lead.
Those who definitively have lead pipes in their homes or businesses will be notified today via letter. While the homeowner or business owner is responsible for the water service replacement, the Town will schedule a replacement program over the next 5 to 6 years. If you choose to replace independently, please notify the Town when scheduling.
If you have questions about your water system's operation, water quality monitoring, or response to this issue, please contact the Water Division directly at 508-695-7790.
For more information, check out the new Lead Service Inventory and Replacement Program webpage.
