North Attleborough Public School Corresponce

Schools Closed Until May 4th

Dear Families and Staff,

Yesterday, Governor Baker announced that all public and private day schools across Massachusetts will be closed until May 4, 2020. We are working closely with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and we anticipate specific guidance around student learning expectations to be issued soon. Guidance and updates from DESE can be found at http://www.doe.mass.edu/. In the interim, we will re-examine the student enrichment opportunities that we have offered.

As a reminder, any student in need of food can utilize the EMERGENCY SCHOOL FOOD PROGRAM, made possible by our devoted School Nutrition employees. The Emergency Food Program runs Monday through Friday, between the hours of 11:30am and 1:00pm, and offers Grab-and-Go meals at Community Elementary School, 45 South Washington Street.

Should you have any questions about COVID-19, please feel free to call 508-699-2404 Monday through Thursday from 8am - 4pm and Friday from 8am-12pm. Our amazing and dedicated nursing staff will be available to provide answers to your COVID-19 questions. Please be sure to follow all recommendations set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, along with checking our website for up to date information regarding our schools.

These times are uncertain, but they have shown how people can come together to support each other. Your continued efforts to enhance the human condition will be remembered.

Thank you and stay safe!

Emergency School Food Program

To All North Attleboro Families:

The North Attleboro Public Schools Nutrition Department will continue to provide FREE meals to all children under the age of 18 during the school district closure due to COVID-19. It is an integral part of our mission to ensure that our students continue to have access to balanced meals in order to maintain their health and the health of our entire community. As you can imagine, this will look quite different from the way we serve meals during the school year. We will operate a “drive-through” grab and go style meal service starting Tuesday, March 17th on weekdays at Community School for ALL district students.

Meals will be available from 11:30 AM-1 PM. Meals will be pre-assembled and prepackaged into bags or covered containers and set up on tables outside the front of the school to be taken off-site. Breakfast and lunch will be served together. Pick up will be at the S. Washington Street side of Community School. Signage will be posted to guide you to through the pick up location. Each student will be given a meal no questions asked. There is no registration, ID, address, or name needed. All meals are free and you may stop by anytime during the service hours.

Please be assured that we will take every precaution to ensure the safety of our staff, students, and their families. Kitchens and serving tables will be routinely sanitized, utensils will be prepackaged in plastic, gloves will be worn by staff and changed frequently, and staff will also frequently wash their hands throughout service. If you or your child are feeling ill, we kindly ask that you refrain from attending meal service. Please note that due to the nature of the meal service and product availability from our vendors, we will not always be able to accommodate allergies and parents/guardians assume responsibility for their children’s allergies.

Sincerely,

The North Attleboro School Nutrition Team

School District Closing

Dear Families and Staff:

Out of an abundance of caution for the health of our students and staff, the North Attleborough Public Schools will be closing from Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 20th. Effective immediately, all school related and non-school related events scheduled at any of our schools have been cancelled until further notice. This closure was taken as a mitigation measure as it may halt person to person spread of the COVID-19 virus.  At this moment in time, there have been no confirmed or presumptive cases in North Attleborough. We will continue to assess conditions and will make a decision next week about whether to extend the cancellation past March 20th.

In accordance with state regulations, these days will be made up at the end of the school year through June 26th.  This will now be our last day of school regardless of any further cancellations. Even if schools are closed for additional days, families can confidently plan for June 26, 2020 to be the final day of the school year.  We will be sending out further communication in the days ahead, thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Public Gatherings Cancellation

North Attleborough Public Schools have cancelled all non-essential gatherings open to the public regardless of their size. This cancellation will affect upcoming trips, dances, and other events that have been planned. Further details will be provided in upcoming correspondence from the School Department.
