The Department of Public Works had another spectacular day for our 11th annual Touch-The-Trucks event! Despite the threat of rain, more than 500 people attended the annual event and were able to explore more than 25 pieces of equipment in celebration of National Public Works Week. The Rhythm Room once again added a special beat to the fun with their amazing drum demonstration and interaction.
The children enjoyed having the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat and discover what the worlds of DPW, Fire, Police, Electric, Homeland Security, Construction, Gas, and Recreation are like. The staff was most welcoming and patient explaining details of the trucks and allowing excited parents and children to safely climb aboard. They were able to see, touch, interact with and learn about special vehicles and big trucks and their functions.
It was so exciting to have The Bristol County Sheriff’s Department join us again this year with their incredible Mobile Incident Command Center!
We would like to extend a big thanks to Steven Carvalho and his remarkable staff for assisting in the organization and their great hospitality. We would also like to thank the DPW, Electric, Fire, Police, and School Departments as well as Liberty Utilities and the Bristol County Sherriff’s Department for bringing their sparkling clean trucks, cruisers, mobile command unit, buses, specialized equipment and more. We would also like to thank the Rhythm Room for their participation and energizing our event with their amazing skills.
We are so very grateful to all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make sure everything ran smoothly. We hope you enjoyed the eleventh annual Touch the Trucks event and look forward to hearing about your experience and how we can make it even bigger and better for next spring. Our most heartfelt thanks to all!!!!!!!!
