Welcome to the North Attleborough Historical Commission Web Site! The Town of North Attleborough is very fortunate to have four very active groups involved in the stewardship of our historical sites: the North Attleborough Historical Society, The Falls Fire Barn Preservation Society, the Mount Hope Cemetery Association and our Historical Commission. All are private non-profit groups except for our Commission.
We are a volunteer board governed by Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40, Section 8D and Town By Law, Article VIII, Section 3. We are volunteers appointed by the Board of Selectmen to Identify, Evaluate and Protect the Historical and Archaeological Assets of our Town and we take this mission seriously. Although our budget is less than a thousand dollars a year we stretch it to the limit and depend on financial assistance from private donations, government grants, and fund raisers to move our restoration projects forward.
Enjoy this web site and feel free to email us with comments and suggestions to make it a user friendly site that is inviting to people of all ages and who will come back again and again. As time permits this site will be updated and become entertaining and more informative. This is a great site to learn about the exciting history in North Attleborough!
The seven members of the Historical Commission are appointed by the Board of Selectmen for overlapping terms of three years. Two alternates are appointed for a one year term.
Volunteers are always welcome to assist with our projects.
