On April 3, 2018 the voters of the Town of North Attleborough approved ballot question #1 to override Proposition 2½ in the amount of $6.5 million dollars, beginning fiscal year 2019 (July 1, 2018). Due to the timing of setting the annual property tax rate (late November or early December), the exact impact of the override cannot be calculated until the fiscal 2019 tax rate is set.
The first and second quarter property tax bills included in this mailing are “preliminary”, based on 50% of the prior fiscal year (2018) actual property tax bill, plus an estimated amount to cover a portion of the increase from the override. The actual property tax bills, which are mailed in late December, will incorporate fiscal 2019 assessed property values, the fiscal 2019 tax levy, and the Proposition 2½ override.
Please be advised there is no formal method by which a bank or mortgage company is informed of anticipated property tax increases for escrow purposes. Property owners may want to contact their mortgage lender regarding property tax escrow amounts.
