The Town of North Attleborough offers flexible payment options and support via its new temporary relief policy to assist residents affected by the federal government shutdown.
Residents who can provide written verification from their federal employer confirming their employment and that the funding lapse impacts them may qualify for the following temporary measures:
- Tax, Water, and Sewer Bills: Due dates may be postponed, and late fees or interest may be waived for the duration of the shutdown. No penalties or collection actions will be initiated during this time.
- North Attleborough Electric Department (NAED): NAED will continue its practice of offering flexibility to customers facing financial hardship.
- Social Services: Affected residents are encouraged to contact Lenore’s Pantry, Outreach Services, or other local assistance programs for additional short-term support.
This policy will remain in effect until the federal government resumes normal operations, and back pay has been issued, or until further notice from the Town Manager.
“The Town recognizes that the ongoing federal government shutdown may cause financial hardship for our residents employed by or contracted with federal agencies,” Town Manager Borg said. “To help ease the burden during this period, the Town offers temporary relief via flexible payment options and support for those affected.”
