The Department of Revenue recently approved the Town Council’s proposed 34.2% property tax shift from the residential class to the commercial, industrial, and personal property classes. This move ensures that our town continues to offer the lowest average tax rates in the region, strengthening our position as the most attractive place to live and do business.
The approved property tax rates for all property classes, including Residential, Commercial and Industrial, and Personal Property, are as follows:
Property Tax Rates - Commercial and Industrial Properties:
$15.70 per $1,000 of Assessed Valuation.
Property Tax Rate- Personal Properties:
$15.65 per $1,000 of Assessed Valuation.
Property Tax Rate - Residential Properties:
$11.06 per $1,000 of Assessed Valuation.
For the average single-family home, the estimated annual tax bill is $6,937. The average commercial taxpayer can expect a bill of about $29,237. This tax shift resulted in approximately $3.4 million in savings for residents. This adjustment balances the overall tax structure. It also eases pressure on homeowners as home prices continue to rise.
