Chief Christopher Coleman is pleased to announce that North Attleboro firefighter Sarah Ellis has graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.

On Feb. 2, firefighter Ellis graduated alongside 23 firefighters from the 50-day Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program. Chief Coleman and Town Manager Michael Borg attended firefighter Ellis’s graduation ceremony at the Department of Fire Services’ Bridgewater campus.

“Firefighter Ellis received praise from her teachers for the skills she demonstrated at the academy, including her high scores on exams and her advanced performance while conducting training and drills,” Chief Coleman said. “She will certainly be a valuable asset to our department, and we look forward to having her serve our community.”

At the academy, firefighter Ellis received training in public fire education, hazardous material incident mitigation, flammable liquids, cancer awareness, stress management and self-rescue techniques. She was also trained in life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation and fire attack.

Upon graduating, Firefighter Ellis now has her Firefighter I/II and Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations certifications.

The other graduates of Class #BW28 represented the fire departments of Brewster, Dennis, Duxbury, Easton, Hingham, Mashpee, Reading, Saugus, Truro, Walpole, Wellfleet, Westborough and Yarmouth.
